As we approach the end of 2024, we wanted to take a moment to share some highlights from our team and thank our amazing clients, collaborators, and friends for an outstanding year.

1. Real Estate Development Milestones

  • Feasibility Studies: Unlocked 740 mixed-income units and 608,608 sq. ft. of development potential.

  • Projects in Progress2,490 units under various stages of development and construction.

  • Square Footage: Delivering over 2.4M sq. ft. of new mixed-income and affordable housing development.

  • Project Value: Totaling $3 billion in project costs.


2. Notable Project Achievements

  • Delivering Vancouver's largest multi-phased social housing project in the City’s history.

  • Mission Waterfront: Named Canada’s most outstanding investment opportunity of 2023, played key leadership role to advance a 300-acre waterfront redevelopment project in just 2 years, after project was stuck for several decades.

  • Partnered with 3 First Nations4 faith-based organizations, and 3 non-profits to advance their real estate priorities.

 

3. Strategic Partnerships

  • Secured significant project financing for transformational projects, including $10M of financing with new lending partner for the delivery of affordable housing.

  • Collaborated with 8 municipalities across BC and Yukon.

  • Partnering with Lytton First Nation on a rebuild strategy for their Economic Development Corporation.

  • Supporting a provincial crown corporation with real estate strategy development and portfolio analysis.

 

4. Growth & Innovation

  • Launching a tenant relocation business line, Purpose Driven Relocation, for equity-focused housing transitions.

  • Team Growth: Doubled our team size and onboarded senior advisors in finance and construction, including Andrew Hull.

 

5. Awards & Leadership Recognition

  • CEO Recognition: Carla Guerrera was honored with the prestigious Business in Vancouver CEO/C-Suite Award for her exemplary leadership in sustainable and community-driven development.

  • New Co-FounderAnnelise van der Veen was named Co-Founder of Purpose Driven Development, further strengthening the company’s mission and leadership.

  • Industry LeadershipMarcela Corzo, a recognized development industry leader joined Purpose Driven Development, bolstering our team’s leadership team, with over 2 decades of expertise in transformative development and construction.

 

6. Workshops & Capacity Building 

  • First Nations Land Development Workshop: Developed and delivered in partnership with Chief Louie & Geoff Greenwell, the first-ever workshop for First Nations leaders, providing in-depth and actionable strategies for land development.

  • Strategic Board Workshop: Launched the Foundations of Development Success Board workshop, addressing client board and leadership capacity needs to ensure successful project delivery for all clients with land assets.

 

7. Thought Leadership

  • Presented a key note at the NABOC Conference (National Aboriginal Business Opportunities Conference), multiple sessions at Housing Central, and other high-profile industry events.
